State Summary
On November 7, 2006, Arizona voters approved the Smoke-Free Arizona Act, the initiative measure designated Proposition 201. The Smoke-Free Arizona Act went in to effect May 1, 2007, and established a statewide prohibition on tobacco smoking in public places and places of employment. Proposition 201 exempts most private residences from the smoking prohibition and also provides limited exemptions for certain public places and places of employment.
